We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that relies primarily on the support of donations to fund operation of the museum. Dear Museum Supporters,
This year, with your generous support, we have achieved a major milestone. Our museum expansion has been a dream for several years, and now a significant portion of that dream has been realized. This new space will allow us to expand our exhibits and increases our capacity to preserve artifacts, documents, and photographs to more fully tell the story of Webster Parish. This project also created additional need. To make good on our promise to our expansion donors, we moved forward with the project. The requirements to meet code drove costs significantly beyond our designated funds causing us to redirect other funds that we now must replenish.
Another focus this year has been increasing our organizational capacity by working to strengthen our leadership. I was fortunate to be among ten nonprofit leaders chosen to participate in the 2025 Nonprofit Capacity Building Cohort through The Institute for Nonprofit Administration & Research at LSUS. This program covered all aspects of nonprofit management and provided valuable insight into strategies we can employ to strengthen the future of the museum.
As spectacular as our museum is, there are always ways that we can be even better. While attention was given to the nonprofit side of things this year, I’m looking to shift focus to strengthening museum operations and expanding the ways we serve our community and make our history more accessible to the public.
However, this work is not possible without your help. As a nonprofit organization, your support is crucial in helping us continue our mission. We invite you to join us in the continued preservation of our local history.
